Grounded campaigns for D&D 5e
low magic D&D campaign

Problems you cannot fireball away.

Disputed fortresses, false evidence on the salt road, a regent murdered in a snowbound hall. Campaigns where steel, leverage, and judgment matter more than spell lists.

An account is required to play. A card is not.

High fantasy solves its problems with power. These campaigns take the power away and leave the problem: a border war built on a lie, a garrison nobody will reinforce, a traitor who may deserve mercy. The threats are mostly human, which makes them harder.

Each one is a full D&D 5e campaign run by an AI Dungeon Master in a world where magic is rare and politics are not. The rules engine keeps wounds, resources, and consequences honest, which is what gritty play depends on.

Choose your war.

Steel & Cinders is $4.99, bought once and kept. An account is required, and campaign packs need a plan with unlimited turns. Legendary members get a pack credit every month.

Thrain Mapcarver

A boisterous dwarf scholar-explorer who treats every dungeon as an unread chapter and every party as the heroes of a chronicle still being written. Equal parts archaeologist, bard, and theatrical expedition leader.

Every campaign here comes with the Dungeon Master included. Thrain narrates the scenes, voices the characters, and keeps the dice honest, so nobody at your table has to run the game.

Frequently asked questions

The practical details before you begin.

What is a low magic D&D campaign?
A campaign set in a world where magic is scarce, distrusted, or costly, so most problems have to be solved with people: soldiers, witnesses, money, and promises. D&D 5e assumes plentiful magic, so a low magic game works by changing the setting and the threats rather than rewriting the classes.
Can I still play a spellcaster in these campaigns?
Yes. Character creation is standard 5e. The campaigns set the tone of the world, not the limits of your sheet, so a caster in a low magic setting is rare and noticed, which tends to make for a better story.
How gritty do these get?
They are about hard choices more than hard numbers. Expect famine, sieges, executions, and people with good reasons for doing bad things. Combat follows normal 5e rules, and the game tracks hit points, conditions, and spent resources exactly, so attrition is real.
How do I get these packs?
Each pack is a one-time purchase that stays in your library permanently. Buying a pack needs a plan with unlimited turns, since these campaigns run far longer than the free plan's turn limit. Legendary members receive a pack credit every month.
Is there a free way to try a grounded campaign first?
Yes. The standard library that comes with every account includes a post-war road story listed on this page. An account is required, a card is not. The free plan covers a limited number of Dungeon Master turns, roughly one session.

The road will not get safer.
